Performance Data Transfer Workshop

Building Network Excellence Across South & Southeast Asia

Project Overview

This initiative was designed to build and enhance the technical skills of engineers from National Research and Education Networks (NRENs) across South and Southeast Asia. Hosted in India, the workshop provided a focused, hands-on learning environment where participants were trained in advanced techniques for data transfer optimization and network performance monitoring.

22 Engineers Trained

Activities Conducted

  • Hosted 3-day workshop in New Delhi with comprehensive training program
  • Delivered hands-on training on perfSONAR and FIONette DTNs
  • Distributed equipment for node deployment and post-training support
  • Conducted post-workshop surveys and check-ins to ensure node functionality
  • Facilitated logistics planning and coordination meetings
  • Performed participant pre-training assessments for readiness

Future Directions

  • Follow-up video calls for ongoing technical support
  • Expansion of perfSONAR nodes to more institutions across the region
  • Continued collaboration via APAN meetings and networking events
  • Creation of permanent learning modules and training resources
  • Development of open-access technical repositories
  • Establishment of remote support channels for ongoing assistance
